  60. Git repositories under ``/srv/formulas`` and makes them available in the
  61. relevant ``file_roots`` settings. Pillar data can be used to customize all
  62. paths, URLs, etc.
  63. Here's a minimal pillar sample installing two formulas in the base
  64. environment.
  65. ::
  66. salt_formulas:
  67. list:
  68. base:
  69. - salt-formula
  70. - openssh-formula
  71. See pillar.example for an exhaustive list of settings available via pillar. Note
  72. that by default this state:
  73. - downloads the latest formulas from the `saltstack-formulas project
  74. <https://github.com/saltstack-formulas>`_ on GitHub.
  75. - does not update the local repositories after the initial clone.
  76. This is a safety measure since you do not control how the official
  77. repositories evolve.
  78. If you configure the state to download the formulas from repositories that
  79. you control, then you can safely enable the
  80. ``salt_formulas:git_opts:default:update`` pillar setting to ``True``.
  81. ``Configuration``
  82. =================
  83. Every option available in the templates can be set in pillar. Settings under 'salt' will be overridden by more specific settings under ``salt['master']``, ``salt['minion']`` or ``salt['cloud']``
  84. ::
  85. salt:
  86. ret_port: 4506
  87. master:
  88. user: saltuser
  89. ...
  90. minion:
  91. user: saltuser
  92. ...
  93. cloud:
  94. providers: ec2
  95. ...
  96. ``Extending``
  97. =============
  98. Additional templates can be added by the user under salt/files/minion.d and master.d. This might be useful if, for example, a recently-added configuration option is not yet provided by the default template.
  99. ``Vagrant``
  100. ===========
  101. Executing the provided `Vagrantfile <http://www.vagrantup.com/>`_ will create a Ubuntu 14.04 VM, add the default Saltstack Repository and install the current stable version.
  102. The folders inside the VM will be set up in a way that enables you to simply execute 'sudo salt "*" state.highstate' to apply the salt formula to the VM, using the pillar.example config. You can check /etc/salt/ for results.
  103. Remember, you will have to run ``state.highstate`` or ``state.sls salt.(master|minion|cloud)`` manually.
